Computer protection software may prevent TutorTrac from operating properly. TutorTrac needs to be given access to serve the web pages on the internet and send emails if your campus utilizes the email functions. If internet or virus proctection software is blocking TutorTrac, then the system may be inaccessible, shut down unexpectedly, or not function properly.
A feature of McAfee VirusScan prevents unauthorized applications from sending 'Mass Mailings'. By default, TutorTrac is not listed as an exception to this rule and McAfee shuts down the TutorTrac process.
Access the VirusScan Console, right-click Access Protection, and click on Properties.

In the Access Protection Properties, click on the Port Blocking tab. Select the Prevent mass mailing worms from sending mail and click the Edit button.

Add TutorTrac.exe to the list of applications that are excluded from this rule and then click OK.

TutorTrac may now send mail without interference from McAfee VirusScan.
Similar settings may be found for other virus protection software. Exclude TutorTrac from the web and email blocks to function properly.
