How do I run an import in FitnessTrac?

The running of the import process in FitnessTrac is easy and can be accomplished two different ways, manual or automatic. In order to do either you must be signed in as an administrator with the appropriate priveleges.

In either case you will need the import file generated and scripting process completed. For more information on those processes please refer to FAQ's FAQ01-0006 and FAQ01-0013.

Manually running an import

From the Main Menu click on Students under the Search For... heading, click the search button to do a generic search and gather a simple student listing. From the student listing screen, click on 'SIS Import' to begin the import process. The user may continue to use FitnessTrac while the import process executes. The SIS Import should be run as often as the SIS exported data file is updated.

Automatic imports

FitnessTrac can run imports automatically. On the Preferences page, set a time to run the import each day near the bottom of the page in the Auto Import at field. At the specified time in the Auto Import at field the file will be imported daily. The import process will look for an existing student record that matches the student record in the import file. If the record already exists, FitnessTrac will update the existing fields for the student record. If the student record does not exist, a new record will be created and the fields for the student will be imported.

Your campus IT department needs to place the import file at the same place each day or time you would like to update. They can also choose to automate that process on their end as well making this a completely hands off process at that point.
