FitnessTrac stores student, fitness, and visit data from you centers. This information is valuable and Redrock Software recommends that the data be backed up regularly. FitnessTrac consists of the program, support files, a webfolder, and a data file. The data file is named Fitness.4DD. Although all files in the FitnessTrac folder may be backed up, the most important is the .4DD data file.
All files, other than the data file, may be reinstalled from the CD. However, if FitnessTrac has been upgraded, the entire folder should be backed up to preserve the upgrades. If FitnessTrac has been upgraded and it is necessary to reinstall FitnessTrac, the upgrades must be installed prior to running the program.
Back up the data file by copying Fitness.4DD to an external hard drive, zip drive, or a network server volume.
Because configurations vary between computers, we can not provide explicit instructions regarding the location and drive name of the place to where the backup files must be copied. The IT Support department of your campus should be able to use these guidelines to set up the appropriate backup procedure for your FitnessTrac server.
FitnessTrac may automatically perform a backup. On page 12 of the preferences, specify a time in the field 'Backup Data file at __ each day'. This allows a backup data file to be created every day automatically. The location of the backup file may be modified, allowing the backup to be stored on an external drive or server computer.
