Can I use a barcode scanner?

In addition to the student ID, FitnessTrac can accomodate a secondary field to identify the student. The secondary field is the barcode field and a barcode scanner may be used to log students in and out of the center.

Printed Barcodes

Student ID cards with printed barcodes may be scanned to log students in and out of the center. When creating a student record manually (not importing it from an SIS generated file), you may scan the barcode into the barcode field of the student record.

A more convenient method for entering the various student barcodes is to import the data via the SIS Import function.

Types of Scanners

FitnessTrac accomodates any model or type of barcode scanner. The barcode scanner must be able to read the type of printed barcode on the student's ID card.

Here are a few types of scanners: 1) wand scanners that must be swiped across the barcode; 2) laser scanners that may be aimed and triggered to read the barcode; and 3) mounted scanners that allow the ID card to be placed under the laser of the barcode scanner.
