Please read FAQ01-0012 for an updated discussion of the backup procedures.
FitnessTrac consists of the application, support files, a webfolder, and a data file. The data file is named Fitness.4DD. Although the entire FitnessTrac folder could be backed up, the most important file is the data file. All other files may be reinstalled from the CD.
Note: If your FitnessTrac has been upgraded since the original installation, reinstall from the CD then install all of the updates prior to running the program. If your FitnessTrac has been upgraded, we recommend that you backup the complete FitnessTrac folder in order to maintain the upgrades.
Back up the data file by copying it to an external hard drive, zip drive or a network drive.
Since computers and networks are configured differently, we can not provide explicit instructions regarding the location where the backup files must be copied. The campus IT department should be able to use these guidelines to set up the appropriate backup procedure for your FitnessTrac server.
You may back the data file up while FitnessTrac is running, as long as there is little or no activity in the center. The data file should not be backed up while it is being modified. Quitting FitnessTrac prior to backing up the data guarantees that the data file is not being modified at that time.
