Does virus protection software interfere with AdvisorTrac?

Computer protection software may prevent AdvisorTrac from operating properly. AdvisorTrac needs to be given access to serve the web pages on the internet and send emails if your campus utilizes the email functions. If internet or virus proctection software is blocking AdvisorTrac, then the system may be inaccessible, shut down unexpectedly, or not function properly.

McAfee VirusScan

A feature of McAfee VirusScan prevents unauthorized applications from sending 'Mass Mailings'. By default, AdvisorTrac is not listed as an exception to this rule and McAfee shuts down the AdvisorTrac process.

McAfee Mail Settings

Access the VirusScan Console, right-click Access Protection, and click on Properties.

In the Access Protection Properties, click on the Port Blocking tab. Select the Prevent mass mailing worms from sending mail and click the Edit button.

Add Advisor.exe to the list of applications that are excluded from this rule and then click OK.

AdvisorTrac may now send mail without interference from McAfee VirusScan.

Other Virus Protection Software

Similar settings may be found for other virus protection software. Exclude AdvisorTrac from the web and email blocks to function properly.
