AdvisorTrac may be enabled with a kiosk mode in order to provide greater security on stand-alone center login stations. In order to enable this mode, first create a student worker login account. Next assign the account preference, 'Show Logins from Terminal,' to 'NONE'.
When logged into AdvisorTrac in kiosk mode, the users may only log in and out of a center. No other information is available. There is also no 'Exit' button to return to the AdvisorTrac Log In screen. AdvisorTrac is locked in this mode. To exit this mode, place your cursor in the web address bar and erase the address to the backslash behind the word, 'advisortrac.' This leads back to the AdvisorTrac Log In screen where the user may log in again with another account.
Locking the Browser Window in Kiosk Mode
In order to provide additional security, your web browser may also be operated in kiosk mode. Enabling the browser kiosk mode causes the window to go full screen, eliminating title bars, menu bars, address bars, back buttons, close buttons, and any other browser options. Keyboard shortcuts are still active. To exit your web browser, press Alt + F4.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Place an Internet Explorer shortcut on your desktop. Right-click on the shortcut icon and select Properties. Click on the Shortcut tab and look at the Target address. At the end of the address, press the spacebar then type -k . This enables the kiosk mode when opening this web browser shortcut. To send the browser to a particular website (i.e. your AdvisorTrac site), press the spacebar then type the web address of the site.

Netscape 4.7
Place a Netscape Communicator shortcut on your desktop. Right-click on the shortcut icon and select Properties. Click on the Shortcut tab and look at the Target address. At the end of the address, press the spacebar then type -sk . This enables the super-kiosk mode when opening this web browser shortcut. To send the browser to a particular website (i.e. your AdvisorTrac site), press the spacebar then type the web address of the site. Currently, kiosk mode is unavailable for Netscape 6 or 7.
